Some sessions just stay with you a little longer—this one was definitely one of them! I recently had the pleasure of doing a family photoshoot with Jamie and her lovely family, and it was one of the most joyful sessions I’ve had this season.

We met at WG Jones State Forest, one of my favorite outdoor locations for family photography near The Woodlands. The timing was just perfect—right around sunset, when the golden light wraps everything in a soft, magical glow. It's every photographer’s dream lighting, especially for natural family portraits!

Jamie came with her two adorable little ones—a 1-year-old baby having his very first professional photoshoot, and a 3-year-old toddler who, like most toddlers, had his own plans during the session! Although he didn’t always follow direction, he still gave me some of the cutest and most spontaneous expressions. That’s the beauty of toddler photography—real moments that tell a story.

Jamie also brought along her two older daughters. While I didn’t catch their names or exact ages, they added a lovely energy to the shoot, balancing the little ones' chaos with calm smiles and warm laughter. It truly felt like a full family moment, filled with love, movement, and connection.

Before the shoot, I had suggested they might want to bring some snacks for the kids, just in case we needed to keep their spirits high throughout the session. (Pro tip for parents: snacks are a photographer’s best friend during a family shoot!) It turned out to be a helpful tip, although the kids held up much better than expected.

And I have to give a special shout-out to their outfit choices—absolutely perfect! The color palette was soft and coordinated without looking too formal, which is exactly what works best in a nature-based photoshoot like this. The result? Clean, timeless photos that reflect their personalities without feeling stiff or posed.

In the end, we captured a beautiful mix of portraits and candid shots—the kind of images that freeze this fleeting chapter of life, especially when kids grow up so fast.
